How to choose the right PFD

Safety PerFecteD

Before boarding, choosing your personal floatation device is almost as important as learning to swim. And if you’re becoming a serious boater or taking lessons, it’s probably time to ditch a generic PFD and upgrade to one that fits like a glove.

First, consider where you will be using your lifejacket. Different activities require different range of motion and different degrees of protection. Second, be realistic about you. It’s ok to fudge your numbers when it comes to clothing, but with a PFD you have to get real. Lastly, check the tag. Each PFD will have a tag that will tell you what the jacket is best used for and who it best fits.

After choosing which PFD best suits you, perhaps you should consider your guests. Every boater is important and everyone needs a life jacket. They even have PFDs for pets! For more information please visit wearalifejacket.com

vary good info! my jetski does around 65mph, one day i had just a normal cheap life jacket on. well that was the day i hit a sandbar and went flying into the water, it knocked me out, and at that speed ripped the jacket right off of me, needless to say it was not good. I woke up and was face up (yes im lucky) and made it back to the jetski, where i drove myself back to my house and went to the hospital to make soure that i didnt hurt my neck.. anyways to end the story, get a life jacket that FITS you! it worth every penny and it will save your life!!!
